Under eye dark circles are quite common among most of us. Sometimes it is a temporary situation, but sometimes, it is a more permanent fixture in the features of one’s face. This is because it has many causes, therefore there are also many treatments. Read on to know more about those usually ugly under eye dark circles that you hate so much.

Causes

Under eye dark circles can be caused by a number of things. The most common of which is the lack of sleep. Without rest and too much stress, your face is most likely to develop those dark circles. There is still no definite scientific explanation for this relationship, but it is well established. The dark circles caused by lack of sleep is quite temporary, which is why it is not really considered serious.

A more serious cause however is an underlying health condition. Whether it is an allergy or a more serious health problem, the dark circles will stay under your eyes until the health condition is treated. Even though this cause of dark circles is a more serious one, it is still considered temporary.

Causes of permanent dark circles under eyes include heredity and natural aging. Some people are simply born with the feature while others are prone to developing it as they grow older, which can also be a sign of heredity. Either way, these natural causes are usually not a big deal for the people who have them since they are basically an intrinsic part of who they are.

Treatments

Under eye dark circles involves different types of treatments that depend on their causes. This means each situation can be dealt with in a different way and there is no one single way of eliminating those dark circles with 100% certainty.

For dark circles caused by a lack of sleep or rest, the easiest solution is to establish a normal sleeping pattern that ensures a proper amount of sleep every single night or at least most nights. Minimizing the amount of stress in your life can also minimize the chances of you developing those dark circles.

Dark circles that come with serious health problems or allergies can be treated with the appropriate type of medication prescribed by your doctor. Make sure that you get properly diagnosed to determine the exact cause of those dark circles so you can be sure that whatever medications you will be required to take will not cause any kind of side effects.

Finally, for dark circles that are inherited, there’s not much you can do but rely on cosmetics to hide them. There are certain products that can help you improve the pigmentation of the area under your eyes, but if it’s a permanent part of your features, don’t expect it to be removed completely.
