You can get rid of those ugly dark circles under your eyes using medication if it is caused by allergies or an underlying health condition. For inherited dark circle features, cosmetics is usually the way to deal with them. But how about dark circles that aren’t part of a serious health condition or inherited features. How about dark circles caused by stress, overexposure to the sun or the fact that you are getting older? You can get rid of that type of dark circles using everyday objects found in your home. Here are some tips on how to get rid of bags under eyes using natural remedies.

Using Cucumbers

Cucumber therapy has been proven very effective in reducing the puffiness of the eyes as well as refreshing the skin around one’s eyes. To this, you simply cut a cucumber into thick slices and place them on your closed eyes. You need to be lying down for a more comfortable feel. Do this 10 to 15 minutes per day and you can say good bye to those dark circles in no time.

Another similar way to do this is to use liquefied potatoes. Just liquidize an uncooked potato using a liquidizer and place it on your closed eyes as you would a cucumber. Lie down and let it sit on your eyes for about 30 minutes. This method may not be as universally accepted as cucumber therapy, but a lot of people have found success in using liquefied potatoes in place of cucumber slices.

Using Ice Cubes

The coldness of ice cubes helps reduce swelling and puffiness around the eyes which also affects discoloration. You just wrap the ice cubes in a soft cloth and put it over your eyes for about 10 to 15 minutes per day while lying down. This works best if you do it in the morning. One other way to do this is to use cool tea bags. You basically do the same thing as you would with the ice cubes. To make the tea bags more effective, refrigerate them overnight before you use them.

Using Frozen Spoons

If you don’t have cucumbers, potatoes, tea bags or ice cubes readily available, you can simply get a spoon and place it in the freezer for about 10 to 15 minutes. Once it is cold already, place them over your eyes until the spoon is no longer cold.
